Enabling Controllable Continuous Production of Sodium-Ion Batteries
Zhejiang Kan Battery Co., Ltd. has conducted in-depth research on the impact of environmental humidity on sodium-ion battery performance during production. Based on extensive real production data and AI fitting analysis, the company optimized and quantified the optimal temperature and humidity conditions for each production process to improve the electrical performance and qualification rate of sodium-ion batteries, realizing controllable environmental variables in the continuous production of sodium-ion batteries.
Equipment: Through in-depth cooperation with leading equipment suppliers including Sunwater, Lead Intelligent, Greensheng, Lianying and others, Kan Battery has customized and developed highly automated and intelligent equipment compatible with both lithium and sodium battery production in line with lithium/sodium battery manufacturing requirements. A new MES intelligent production system for sodium-ion batteries has been designed, integrating data collection channels (PLC, IPC, PC, etc.) covering the entire sodium-ion battery manufacturing process to ensure real-time, accurate and comprehensive data collection, with timely alarms and feedback for equipment and process abnormalities, guaranteeing the stability and consistency of sodium-ion battery products.
The factory is constructed in strict accordance with Class 10,000 cleanroom standards. The entire workshop adopts AGV transportation, intelligent logistics lines and stacker loading/unloading systems, forming an efficient and intelligent production system. Meanwhile, due to the special characteristics of sodium-ion battery materials and processes, corona treaters, pre-calenders, restrictive formation and grading equipment are used in production to enhance process stability and qualification rate.
Process: Key controls are implemented for moisture content of coated electrodes, formation current, K-value management and other processes. High-capacity materials are susceptible to moisture, which may lead to high short-circuit rates and low baking qualification rates.
Raw materials: Strict pH control is applied to cathode materials, as excessive pH may cause structural collapse. For anode materials, high pH may corrode and decompose the SEI film, resulting in rapid capacity decay and poor cycle performance.
