On October 12, 2025, local time in Saudi Arabia, the China (Shenzhen) - Saudi Arabia Digital Energy Industry Economic and Trade Cooperation Exchange Meeting, guided by the Shenzhen Municipal Development and Reform Commission, hosted by the Shenzhen Battery Industry Association, and co-organized by Shenzhen Urban Transport Planning & Design Research Center Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as SUTPD), was held at the Riyadh Front Exhibition and Convention Center in Saudi Arabia.

Nearly 100 representatives from Saudi institutions and enterprises including the Saudi Ministry of Investment, Saudi-China Joint Business Council, Public Investment Fund (PIF), ACWA Power, Excellence Arabia, and Ascend Solutions, as well as Shenzhen new energy enterprises such as SUTPD, CSG Shenzhen Power Supply Bureau, Yuanzhi Energy Storage, BYD, Runshihua, Hualite, Mingyang Energy, and Deni Environment, gathered at the event themed "Green Future, Win-Win for China and Saudi Arabia" to discuss development and reached multiple intentions for industrial cooperation. Chen Shou, President of the Shenzhen Battery Industry Association, presided over the meeting.

Jointly Mapping Out the Blueprint for Digital Energy Cooperation

The friendship between China and Saudi Arabia has a long history. This year marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. With the in-depth alignment of China's Belt and Road Initiative and Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, the two countries have not only achieved fruitful results in cooperation in the traditional energy field, but also made remarkable achievements in digital economy, new energy and other fields, laying a solid foundation for the bilateral cooperation to reach a new height and open up broad prospects in the future.

Guo Ziping, Director of the Municipal Development and Reform Commission stated that Shenzhen has a development model featuring three urban business cards: the City of Ultra-Fast Charging, the Integrated Network for Power Charging, Storage and Discharging, and Virtual Power Plants. It can provide an efficient array of green energy services and a matrix of digital solutions, as well as world-class experience in digital power grid construction.

Thamer Sulaiman Al-Ghafis, General Manager of the Energy Investment Department of the Saudi Ministry of Investment said that China is an important partner of Saudi Arabia, and the two sides have achieved remarkable results in cooperation in trade, investment and other fields. Shenzhen has obvious advantages in new energy, technological innovation and other fields. Shenzhen enterprises such as Huawei and BYD have provided efficient and reliable new energy solutions for Saudi Arabia, which are crucial to the realization of Saudi Arabia's long-term goals. Saudi Arabia looks forward to further cooperating with Shenzhen's digital energy industry to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.

Anas Al-Fada, Vice Chairman of the Saudi-China Joint Business Council stated that the Belt and Road Initiative and Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 have many convergences. The Council has been committed to promoting cooperation between Saudi and Chinese enterprises for many years, and is willing to play a bridge role to promote in-depth cooperation between Saudi and Shenzhen enterprises, strengthen the economic and trade ties between the two countries, and contribute more to addressing the increasingly complex global challenges.

Shenzhen Extends Invitation to Middle Eastern Enterprises 

During the promotion session, Shenzhen's practical experience in the development of the digital energy industry was stunningly displayed, providing "Chinese solutions" and "Shenzhen models" for the global energy revolution. The Shenzhen delegation issued an invitation to enterprises, institutions and people from all walks of life around the world to participate in and cooperate in the 2026 International Digital Energy Exhibition. Shenzhen Urban Transport Planning & Design Research Center Co., Ltd. introduced its world-leading overall smart city solutions, covering the latest achievements in fields such as "Smart Energy", "Digital Twin", "Low-Altitude Integration" and "Artificial Intelligence".

Strategic Signing to Build a Green Silk Road Together 

During the meeting, SUTPD signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Ascend Solution Holding on the Intelligent Hajj Management System. This system will conduct real-time monitoring through AI algorithms, dynamically optimize traffic flow, emergency dispatch and service resource allocation, successfully solving the safety and efficiency problems during the Hajj, and providing a replicable "Chinese model" for the construction of smart cities around the world. The Shenzhen Battery Industry Association signed an agreement with SAUDI OBNC to establish a Saudi Service Center, which will jointly promote business cooperation between Saudi and Chinese enterprises, brand globalization, intellectual property public services and other matters.

Entrepreneurs from both sides conducted friendly exchanges on photovoltaic, battery energy storage, microgrid, electric vehicles and other fields, and expressed their willingness to jointly carry out joint research and achievement transformation, deepen cooperation, and open up more new areas of cooperation. Obviously, China and Saudi Arabia are ushering in more and more opportunities for common development in the in-depth alignment of the Belt and Road Initiative and Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030.
